My name is Kristel Marijnissen.
I am a licensed Yoga and Nia teacher. I am professionally trained in Hatha Yoga and received my license to teach in 2000. Since then I have been teaching several groups at different locations.

The foundation of Hatha Yoga lies on the trinity of body, breathing and awareness; bringing together the mind and body to a mental and physical state where it is healthier, more balanced, harmonious and ready for the unique experience of life.  The effects of the yoga exercises are to be found in different levels.  It is an effective way to stay grounded, strong and flexible.

During the last few years I attended several yoga-teacher training courses and Master Classes in different styles of yoga, including Iyengar Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Dynamic Yoga, Yin Yoga, Vinyasa and Power Yoga and have incorporated them in both my yoga practice and teachings.

I am a licensed breathing therapist, trained in breathing therapy and the basics of Ayurveda combined with massages.
Additionally I have been trained to work with women in pre-and post-natal yoga and baby massage, and have practiced this for the past 7 years.

Being so deeply enthused by the art of yoga, it was my passion to open my own yoga centre, to create a beautiful, safe and sacred space for people to, as it were, take a ‘time-out’. I opened Khagaya centrum voor yoga in 2007: A unique space that invites one to experience stillness and to connect to the body, mind, emotions and spirit; An environment to inspire, to heal and recharge, so the inner dance of life can be consciously experienced.

In addition to yoga, I am now professionally trained and licensed in the Nia technique. Nia is the ‘Love Your Body Workout’, the most advanced form of fusion fitness.
Nia combines the essence and dynamic qualities of Martial Arts (Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido), Dance Arts (Modern Dance, Jazz Dance, Duncan Dance) and Healing Arts (Yoga, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique) to create a high-powered, synergistic workout that no other isolated exercise technique can match.
More than ‘working out’, Nia also incorporates mental and emotional components such as introspection, visualization and vocal expression. Nia addresses the needs of your body, mind, emotions and spirit, using movement to integrate them.

I feel very passionate about both Yoga and Nia and their healing capacity. They increase health and vitality, deeply reduce stress and support the art of dancing through life. They help you to live life as a living meditation, with attention and awareness.

Now the time has come for me to bring my unique style of teaching yoga and Nia to a larger public, so that more people can enjoy the beauty and benefits of both.
I look forward to welcoming you to my classes.
